EVALUATION CHECK LIST

I have started an evaluation with my friend on history text book form 3 KBSM which was published in 1991 by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka ( DBP). We did the evaluation based on three aspects; organization, contents, and physical aspects.




Firstly, based on organization, it provided a useful table of contents, glossary and index. The table of contents also showed a logical arrangement and development of subject. Students can get their chapter rapidly when they see page number at the table of content. In addition, this text book also has references which were stated at the each chapter in this text book. We think that references are helpful and sufficient to the students. When we look at the each chapter, it was only provide the introduction at the begining and did not provide summaries at the end of cahapter. For this text book, all the page was numbered.




Secondly, based on contents, it was meet local and national standards and we think the contents were accurate and up to date. In addition, the contents that were stated in this text book will be supported by other text books that students have. This text book have used great Malay language and suitable for secondary students especially form 3 secondary students. This text book also have quizzes at the end of lesson. However, there did not provide the answer for the quizzes and activities to engage students in active learning. We think that this text book cannot use for several years.




Lastly, based on physical aspects. From what we have evaluated, the size and weight of text book are not appropriate for students who will use it. It was very heavy to carry. It can make the students feel bored to read this book. However, the font was very clear and the students did not have any obstacles when reading this book. In addition, the binding, page and cover of the text book were durable. The illustrations, tables, figures, and others were relevant and functional for the lessons that were stated in this text book.
